We are getting older and older, so it is vital to be mentally and physically fit even in old age. Physical inactivity is a decisive risk factor in the development of dementia.
Studies from the University of Pittsburgh have shown that walking a mile a day can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s by 50%. If walking is supplemented by age-appropriate light training twice a week, the risk can be further reduced. (Isn’t that great news..)
Even if you have already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, the shock is undoubtedly great.
That does not mean that you can still be active and continue to shape your life in a positive and varied way. (…and do something actively for your betterment)
On the contrary, the earlier you start, the better. However, it’s never too late. We learned movement as children. So it is a primary fundamental skill that our mind and body gladly like to remember even in older ages.
